Mobile Advertising: The DeLorean of Multi-Media Marketing

First, let me apologize for the delay on my entries lately. I haven't been up to speed lately. Speaking of speed, some say that the fastest way from point A to point B is a straight line. From Einstein's scientific theory, novels such as "The Time Machine," and "Back to the Future," time travel, twin paradoxes, and direct portals have been argued, studied, and tested for centuries. In laments terms, in order to travel through time one must pass through a worm hole or direct portal, theoretically .

Why discuss worm holes? Why bring up a successful movie from the 1980's? Maybe, because it was awesome! What's not awesome about Marty McFly and Emmett "Doc" Brown gunned their DeLorean DMC-12 and gunning it to 88 mph while generating 1.21 gigawatts of power to a device called the flux capacitor which allowed them to travel through time while using a direct portal through time? Nerd Alert!

Mobile advertising can be considered the DeLorean of modern day advertising/marketing. It allows businesses and companies to send a targeted advertising message to consumer's cell phones via text message. Text message advertisements serve as an influential marketing tool because today's society is obsessed with being socially connected and is addicted to technology, especially their cell phones. Ever see a family eating dinner at a restaurant and the teenager is completely silent (I know...weird), looking down and vigorously fiddling and texting on their phone?

Today, the fastest way to reach people is either via cell phone or through email and some get email automatically forwarded to their cell phones. That is why a large amount of advertisers have invested highly in developing mobile texting campaigns to reach consumers. It is a direct portal between the advertiser and consumer.  It's fast, easy, and delivers a direct advertising message, but is it warranted? Do people actually enjoy receiving advertising by phone? One might feel as if it is annoying or intrusive. Your thoughts?

WHAT IS A DIRECT PORTAL?:  A direct portal is "a science fiction fanatical depiction of a magical or technological doorway that often connects two locations within the aspect of time or different spot within the same spot of the universe."
